| Income Taxes | 21. Income Taxes Income tax expense for the six months ended June 30, 2024 included a discrete tax benefit of $137 million recognized in connection with the reorganization and establishment of a more efficient global intellectual property and technology platform and corporate structure. In addition, for the six months ended June 30, 2024 income tax expense included $37 million of discrete tax benefits primarily related to stock-based compensation awards that vested in 2024. Income tax expense for the six months ended June 30, 2023 included $40 million of discrete tax benefits primarily related to stock-based compensation awards that vested in the first quarter of 2023, offset by a $38 million discrete tax expense related to the resolution of certain outstanding tax matters. |
